Farzana Samad Chowdhury, wife of late MP Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury has submitted party nomination papers to contest the Sylhet-3 (Fenchuganj-Balaganj-South Surma) parliamentary by-election.
On Monday morning, she submitted the nomination form to the party office of the Awami League.
By submitting the form, she asked for blessings from the people of Sylhet-3 constituency. KM Shahidullah, Central Secretary General Sheikh Russell Shishu Kishore Parishad, Vice President Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, Shahjahan Ahmed, Sylhet District Council Member and Fenchuganj Upazila Awami League Organizing Secretary Abdul Awal Koyes, Farzana Samad Chowdhury Secretary Julhas Ahmed and various Awami League leaders and workers also attend here.
The Sylhet-3 seat became vacant after the death of Mahmud Us Samad due to coronavirus infection. Farzana Samad Chowdhury said, “I am trying to take part in this election with the aim of building Bangabandhu’s golden Bengal and maintaining the continuity of the ongoing development of the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”
She said, I am always ready to accept any sacrifice and take the responsibility of serving the country.’
She further said, I have a clear idea about parliamentary practice, privilege and discipline, parliamentary budget, parliamentary session, standing committee, inter-parliamentary affairs, legislative functions, etc.
The by-elections for Sylhet-3, Dhaka-14 and Comilla-5 constituencies will be held on July 14. The last day to submit nomination papers for these seats is June 15.
Nomination papers will be selected on June 18. The last day for withdrawal of nomination papers is June 23. Symbols will be assigned on June 24.
