Omar Farooque recently has been joined as the new Managing Director and CEO of Bangladesh Commerce Bank Limited. Prior, he had been working as the Managing Director of Union Bank Limited and Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation as well as Managing Director (CC) of Janata Bank Limited, said a press release.
Omar Farooque has 38 years experience in banking career. He started his career with Agrani Bank in 1983 as a Senior Officer. He held very important position in the bank and worked as a group leader in FSRP and CBRP Cell of the bank. He was a vital resource person in different training institutes including a faculty member of Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM). Besides he is also a Diplomate Associate of Institute of Bankers Bangladesh (DAIBB). In his entire career he attended many seminars and symposiums on banking which includes Business Plan, Raising Standard of Customer Service, Sales and Distribution, International Trade, Technological Development and Investment. For training and professional development requirement, he visited many foreign countries’ including United Kingdom, China, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore.
