Farming crops, rearing cow adapting to changed climate underscored

Speakers at a workshop here underscored the need for farming agri-crops and rearing domestic animals adapting to changed climate to earn economical profit and achieve the country’s food security.
“As our country has been experiencing an abnormal climate change in recent years due to different grounds, there are no alternative to proper strategies and technologies to cultivate crops and rear domestic animals coping with climate change” they said. They made the comments while addressing a day-long workshop on the crises of agriculture and livestock due to changed climatic condition and strategies to resolve it at the training centre of Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK) at Nashratpur under Sadar upazila on Tuesday.
GUK, a non government organization, arranged the function under the projects of Resilience Improvement of Vulnerable Extreme Riparian and Inclusive Economic Development through Integrated Food Production and Income Security funded by Christian Aid.
Deputy Director (DD) of department of agriculture extension (DAE) AKM Ruhul Amin and district livestock officer (DLO) Dr Abdul Latif addressed the function as the resource persons while director of GUK Anjum Nahid Chowdhury Lucky presided over the ceremony.
The workshop was also addressed, among others, by Phulchhari upazila agriculture officer M. Asaduzzaman, Phulchhari upazila livestock officer Dr. Abdul Malek, Phulchhari union parishad chairman Abdul Gafur and journalist Sarker M. Shahiduzzaman while project manager Protima Chakrabartee was the moderator.
