Farmers across the area including Barind tract are passing busy time in cultivating T-Aman paddy in Bogra district. The growers of all twelve upazilas of the district are expecting complementation of plantation of the seed before the Bengalee month of Badra.
Local agriculture office source said, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has set a target to bring around 1, 89,567 hectors of land under T-Aman paddy cultivation in the season across the area aiming food supplement. The farmers are showing more interest towards the T-Aman farming due to the effective measures taken by the government, source added.
Farmer Saiful Islam, 25, at Banduria village under Dupchanchia upazila said, “I have brought five bighas of land under T-Aman cultivation spending TK. 19 thousands and I hope TK. 47 thousand will be profit from the crop land if the weather condition remains favourable till harvesting. I have to suffer much due to shortage of labour crisis during the time transplantation, he added.
While visiting the correspondent found that the recurrent rainfalls are bringing fortune for the farmers towards the transplantation. The labor-class peoples especially the indigenous males and females are also passing busy time earning money for managing expenditure of the family income.
Sub-assistant agriculture of DAE Hossain Ali said, “Government provided chemical fertilizers like urea, TSP and Mop among the small and marginal farmers free of cost aimed at boosting the T-Aman paddy yield for ensuring food security.” “To make the cultivation programme a grand success, the government has also ensured the supply of seeds, insecticides and other agri inputs to the growers at fair prices besides the free of cost chemical fertilizer.” he added.
