Farmers of Gafargaon Upazila under Mymensingh are passing busy time to cultivate various types of early winter vegetables to get more profit before winter .
While visiting various unions this correspondent saw that the farmers are now passing very busy time to make various types of vegetables and have made nursing land for cultivation.
Agriculture Office sources said that about 1300 hectres of have been brought under various types of vegetable vegetables in different villages such as Charalgi, Tangabo, Datterbazar, Neguari, and Panchbag of this Gafargaon Upazila. Among these vegetables , radish, Celery, Corola/bitter-gourd, leaves of jute plant, Basil have been got in the market. The farmers are also getting much profit to sell these vegetables. They got more profit in the last season .So , they are trying to get more profit buying vegetables in the current season from before cultivating vegetables. Among these vegetables bean, brinjal, radish, Cauli-flower, cabbage , Celery, Bitter-gourd, Tomato, Lady’s finger, Basil, etc. are found in the market.
The farmers of the villages of Bamonkhali, Dakbanglo, Bashia Tangabo under Tangabo Union, Charshankhchura, Khurshid Mahal, Gaviushimul villages of Panchbag Union , Baluakanda, Joyarchar, Charalgi villiages of CharAlgi Union, Datterbazar union,and Neguari Union of this rural areas of Gafargaon Upazila are now passing very busy time to make shapling of vegetables and have been planted . Farmer Makbul Hossain of Bamonkhali village at Tangabo Union informed , all types of vegetables are taken in the market at the very beginning of the wintry season, we get more profit to buy these vegetables. Farmer Anwer , Nidhierchar village at CharAlgi Union has cultivated brinjal in his 2 acre land . In the last season he got profit TK 2 lakh by cultivating brinjal. He also hoped that he would sell new brinjal in the next 1½ month in the market . Besides this ,he also said, we cultivate brinjal by the inspiration of the local Agriculture Extension Department. Without us , the farmers of Datterbazar, Neguari including several union also have got enormous success by cultivating this seasonal vegetables for years. Upazila Agriculture Officer, S.S.Farhana Hossain informed , wintry vegetables were cultivated in huge amount of land in the last year. Now 1300 hectre land has been targeted to cultivate wintry vegetables in the current season in this year. We do hope that this target will be extended in this year.
