The use of compost fertilizers are gaining popularity day by day in the district and the farmers are being benefited using naturally produced fertilizers.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office source said compost fertilisers are comparatively cheap and it can be produced at home easily by local technology.
While talking to cultivators, who are using compost fertilizers in their land, told that preparing compost fertilizers are economically viable and its raw materials are available around them.
One of the compost fertilizer users Md. Habibur Rahman of village Bayra under Singair upazila said he had cultivated vegetable on five bighas of land during the current season using compost fertilizers.
He is expecting a good production of vegetable thanks to using compost fertilizer.
Like Habibur Rahman, many farmers are preparing organic fertilizer at their homes and they are using it at their land.
Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) sources said compost fertilizer increases fertility of soil and it also help rise of good yielding of cultivated crops.
They said long time use of chemical fertilizers decreases fertility of soil, which are harmful for agriculture sector.
“Taking this into consideration, we are motivating farmers to use naturally produced fertilizer for maintaining soil quality,” an official of DAE told BSS.
