The farmers of Dhunat upazilla in Bogra have achieved bumper maize production by
cultivating high produced HYV Naize – 984 and UTTORON-2 with friendly environmental method and the work men ship technology of BRAC on the un -cultivated land of bank area.
It is learnt that a bumper production has been achieved with the skill technology authorized by BRAC Food and Agriculture Security Council on the unused land near the river Jamuna and Bengali.
UTTORON-2 has been produced 115-120 mound per acre. The farmers are very glad to this heavy production for the use of moderate fertilizer by BRAC technology and without any use of insecticides.
A farmer of the Block named Zahidul Islam says that a lot of uncultivable land would remain un used without cultivation be fore and sometime a few production if it does . By spending Tk 20,000/= per acre. They produce 120 maund maize of which value is Tk 60,000/= They hope that farmers will be greatly benefited if it is continued of such cultivation.
Masudur Rahman, upazilla Agricultural expansion officer, Sub-Asst Agricultural officer. Solaiman Ali, Md. Anwarul Islam, up chairman, Md. Faruk Hossain, upazilla Manager of BRAC food and Agricultural security council were present on the occasion at Dewria Biock in Gopalnagar union parishad of that upazilla.
