A farmer was killed and 30 others were injured in a clash over a friendly football match, on occasion of Eid-ul-Azha in Mitamoin upazila of Kishoreganj on Friday.
The decreased was identified as Farmer Akhter Uddin (56) in Char KatKhal village under Kutkhal union of Mitamoin upazila.
Police and locals said that two groups Abu Hashim group and Alal group arranged the friendly football match, scheduled to hold on the village mosque field on Friday afternoon.
Members of Alal group allegedly obstructed the Abul Hashim group to join the game.
As the situation went heated, follows of both the groups involved in an altercation. At on stage, a clash erupted among them carrying local weapons. The injured persons were admitted to Mitamoin Hospital, Kishoreganj General Hospital. Police Super Md. Mashrokur Rahman Khaled BPM said that additional police have been deployed in the area to control the situation.
