A farmer was killed in an attack by his rivals at Bhatranda village in Ghior upazila on Wednesday morning. The deceased was identified as Halim Miah, 40, son of late Ansar Ali of the village.
Quoting local farmers, Rabiul Islam, officer-in-charge of Ghior Police Station, said that Halim had enmity with some local people over 55 decimal land. When Halim was digging a drain for irrigation of his field in the morning, his rival group swooped on him and hit him with a sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured.
Later, the injured was rushed to Ghior upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead.
