One farmer has been killed by lightning during a thunderstorm blowing over Chandipur village under Chandpasha union of Babuganj upazila in Barisal district on Tuesday noon. The victim was identified as Abu Akon,44, a farmer of that village. Dr. Sourav Sutar, medical officer on duty at emergency ward of Barisal Sher -e- Bangla Medical College Hospital, said farmer Abu went to return his cattle from grazing field to cow-shed at about 11:30 AM Tuesday.
At that time thunderstorm was blowing over the area and lightning hit Abu. He was rushed to Barisal SBMCH and died there at 13:15 PM. His dead body handed over to family members lodging a case of unnatural death, Dr. Sourav told.
