A farmer was electrocuted while working on farmland in Kaona village of Hossainpur upazila in Kishoreganj on Saturday morning.
The victim identified as Md. Naeem (27) is son of Aminul Islam of Araibaria Union Parishad.
Locals and Palli Bidyut in Hossionpur Office sources said that for the under-construction bridge over Narsunda River on Hossainpur-Pakundia Regional Highway, S Alam Contracting Company of Kishoreganj has illegally taken electricity connection from Dinar’s Pharmacy in Kaona Bazar on the land of farmer Naeem Mia.
Farmer Naeem went to plow the land with a tractor on Saturday morning. At that time, he was electrocuted as soon as he caught the wire while moving the line. He died on the spot.
Araibaria UP chairman Khurshid Uddin confirmed this incident.
When contacted to Deputy General Manager (DGM) in Hossainpur Palli Bidyut Samity Md. Moniruzzaman said, side connection was given without informing us. Both are responsible for this.”
