A young housewife allegedly committed suicide after ‘killing’ her two-year-old son at Borail village in Madhukhali upazila on Friday morning over a family feud.
The deceased were identified as Farida Begum, 25, wife of Amir Sheikh alias Fela, and their son Rasul Sheikh.
Locals said Farida locked into an altercation with her sister-in-law,
wife of her husband’s elder brother Alamgir, in the morning over family affairs.
Later, Farida went to her room, strangulated her son Rasul to death and hanged herself from the ceiling of the room with a rope, said officer-in-charge of Madhukhali Police Station Ruhul Amin.
On information, police recovered the bodies at noon and sent those to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy, he said.
An unnatural death case was registered.
