Ekushey Padak and National Film Award winning noted folk singer Farida Parveen tested corona positive. The singer’s son Imam Zafar Nomani confirmed the matter. He said that as her mother felt sick for four days, she was given sample for the coronavirus test on April 7. Though her test report came positive, she has no other physical problems except slight shortness of breath. Imam Zafar Nomani also said that Farida Parveen has been taking treatment at home following the recommendation of the physician. He shouted prayers to all for her mother’s early recovery.
Farida Parveen, popularly known as ‘the Queen of Lalon song,’ was born at village Shawl of Singra upazila in Natore on December 31, 1954. In 1987, she received the Ekushey Padak for her special contribution to the music industry. In 2008, she received the Fukuoka Asian Culture Award from the Government of Japan.
