Farhad, Tanveer hit tons as 4th BCL kicks off

The 4th Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL), the four-day basis first class domestic cricket competition, began on Tuesday at two venues, featuring two centuries by Tanveer Haider and Farhad Hossain on the opening day.
Sent in to bat first at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra, Central Zone scored 303 for 5 in 88 overs in the first innings against East Zone at stumps on the first day of the four-day affairs on Tuesday, featuring two big partnership in the 5th and 6th wicket stands.
After the dismissal of four top order batsmen in just 6.1 overs, one down Marshall Ayub pairing with number six Tanveer Haider added 135 runs in the 5th wicket stand and later Tanveer Haider again pairing with number seven Sharifullah contributed 145 runs in the 6th wicket stand.
Tanveer Haider made a century scoring not out 108 runs off 258 balls hitting 16 fours, Sharifullah made an unbeaten 89 runs off 101 balls featuring 13 fours, Marshall Ayub contributed 143-ball 76 runs including nine boundaries while opener Shamsur Rahman scored 13-ball 16 runs with three fours.
Abul Hasan grabbed three wickets for 41 runs while Abu Jayed took two for 60 runs.
At Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi, North Zone opened the innings first after losing the toss and scored 291 for 6 in 91 overs in the first innings against South Zone at the end of the first day (Tuesday).
One down Farhad Hossain hammered a century scoring 106 runs off 179 deliveries hitting 15 fours and one six, number seven Ariful Haque scored an unconquered 62 runs off 79 balls with 10 boundaries, Mysukur Rahman hit 30 off 70 balls with four fours, captain Naeem Islam scored 78-ball 30 runs including three fours while wicket keeper Dhiman Ghosh added 26 runs off 62 balls.
National coloured players Shohag Gazi and Abdur Razzak took two wickets each conceding 95 and 118 runs respectively while Tauhidul Islam and Enamul Haque Junior took one wicket each giving away 18 and 48 runs respectively.
