A high power FAO team called on Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md. Ali Akbar during their visit at the Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh on last Thursday.
During the meeting the FAO team expressed their desire to extant cooperation to meet the challenges of our food safety & food security, as well as to develop academic and research activities of BAU.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Ali Akbar stressed the need for more cooperation to uphold the research activities of BAU.
The expert member of the FAO team were Dr James Curtin and Fintan Moran- respectively Head and Faculty Member of School, Food Science and Environmental Health, Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland; Naser Farid, Project Director, Institutionalization of food safety in Bangladesh for Safer Food and DG, Food Planning and Monitoring Unit, Ministry of Food; Mustak Hassan Md. Iftekhar, Chairman, Bangladesh food Safety Authority; Prof Dr Abdus Sattar Mandal former, Senior Adviser to FAO-R and former Vice-Chancellor of BAU; Prof Dr Md. Kamrul Hasan (National Consultant-Horticulture, Institutionalization of food safety in Bangladesh for Safer Food, FAO, Bangladesh.
During their visiting program the FAO team members meet with Director, Coordinator and Adjunct Faculties of ICF (Interdisciplinary Center for Food Security), teachers of Department of Microbiology and Hygiene, Department of Agriculture Chemistry, Department of Food technology & Rural Industries of BAU.
The FAO expert team also visited the farm area and Germ Plasm Centre of BAU.
