The election of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is knocking at the door. The election will be held on October 6. The cricket fans are interested to know who will be the 12 Directors from the quota of the clubs from Dhaka. Current President of the BCB Nazmul Hassan Papon, Enayet Hossain Siraj, Mahbub Anam, Ismail Haider Mallick, Golam Mortaza, Monjur Quader, Ahmed Najib, Shawkat Aziz have submitted their nomination papers. Besides, nine councilors have given their candidature for the post of the Directors. That means 17 candidates will take part in the post of Directors of Dhaka clubs. If the five candidates withdraw their nomination papers, the 12 candidates will be elected unopposed. But if 13 candidates will not withdraw their candidature, the election will be held.
A total of four candidates have submitted their nomination papers for Dhaka Division. Naimur Rahman Durjoy (Manikganj), Syed Ashfakul Islam Tito (Kishoreganj), Tanvir Ahmed Tito (Narayanganj) and Khalid Hossain (Madaripur). All the candidate are heavyweight candidates. Earlier, Naimur Rahman elected as a Director of BCB after taking in a hard-fought election. Syed Ashfakul Islam is the nephew of former president of Bangladesh Syed Nazrul Islam. Syed Ashfakul Islam is also cousin of Syed Ashraful Islam, who was the former general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League. Tanvir Ahmed is the President of Narayanganj Club, General Secretary of Narayanganj District Sports Association and brother-in-law of Shamim Osman, MP. Khalid Hossain is the younger brother of Bahauddin Nasim, who is the Joint-Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League. Khalid Hossain is the Mayor of Madaripur City Corporation and high official of Madaripur District Sports Association. Naimur Rahman Durjoy is the incumbent MP of Manikganj-1. Nina Rahman, mother of Durjoy is the President of Manikganj District Awami League. So, there will be a hard contest for the post.
