‘Fani’ intensifies further

‘Fani’, now classified as a ‘very severe cyclonic storm’, has intensified further, the Met Office said on Tuesday afternoon.
It now lies over Southwest Bay and adjoining Southeast Bay.
‘Fani’ was centred about 1,270 km Southwest of Chattogram port, 1,210km Southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 1,190 km Southwest of Mongla Port and 1,170 km Southwest of Payra port at noon, the Met office said.
It is likely to intensify further and move in a north/northwesterly direction. Maximum sustained wind speed within 74 kms of the storm centre is about 130 kph rising to 150 kph in gusts or squalls.
Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant warning signal number 2.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to stay close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
They have also been advised not to venture into the deep sea.
