Family meets death row convict Mojaheed

Staff Reporter :Condemned war criminal Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed, Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami, has said that he will get ‘justice’ after he seeks review of the Supreme Court verdict that upheld his death penalty.Tamanna-e-Jahan, wife of Mojaheed, told this to reporters after she, her son Mabrur Ahmed and some other family members met the death row convict in the Dhaka Central Jail on Friday morning. Mojaheed is now mentally and physically strong, said Tamanna. According to her, Mojaheed said that the allegations brought against him were false and baseless. The Jamaat leader hopes that he will be acquitted in the end. The family members of Mojaheed met him for the first time after the Supreme Court released its full verdict. The family members said that they visited Mojaheed as part of their regular visits.On October 3, lawyers of the Jamaat leader met him in the jail. Mojaheed told his lawyers that he would file a petition with the Supreme Court seeking review of its judgement.On 30 September, the Supreme Court released the full verdicts upholding the death penalty to Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed and BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury for their crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.The International Crimes Tribunal, which held the trial of the duo for his crimes against humanities in 1971, issued death warrant on October 1, a day after the apex court released the full verdict.
