Falu granted bail hours after denial

Court Correspondent :A Dhaka court yesterday (Thursday) granted bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Adviser Mosaddek Ali Falu, hours after turning down his bail petition in a case filed on charge of ‘subversive activities’. Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud Adnan of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order after hearing on a petition submitted for reconsideration. Earlier the same day, the same court rejected Falu’s bail petition filed by his lawyer Sanaullah Miah. He filed the reconsideration petition showing reasons that his client’s health condition deteriorated after learning that his bail petition had been turned down by the court. Now he needs medical treatment. The court took into cognizance of the appeal and revoked its previous order granting Falu bail till August 26, Sanaullah Miah told reporters after the hearing. Earlier, on June 18, the High Court Division of the Supreme Court granted bail to detained Mosaddek Ali Falu in a case filed with Badda Police Station under the Explosive Substances Act. Detective Brunch (DB) of police arrested Falu from the gate of BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan office on February 1.
