UNB, Thakurgaon :
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday demanded the immediate deployment of army with magistracy power for ensuring proper election atmosphere.
“We’ve long been talking about deployment of army in the national election. We now demand that the army be deployed immediately with magistracy power,” he said.
Fakhrul came up with the comment while speaking at an election rally at Barungaon under Sadar upazila in the morning.
The BNP leader said, a change in the current regime is imperative to protect democracy in the country. “Awami League will cement its one-party rule if it retains power. So, cast your vote for Sheaf of Paddy to bring a change in the government.”
He alleged that the government has failed to ensure public welfare as it indulged in killing, enforced disappearance and repressive acts by police.
Fakhrul said their party wants a peaceful and credible election, but the ruling party ‘cadres’ are attacking their candidates and their supporters at different parts of the country during electioneering.
“We’ll free Khaleda Zia and restore god governance in the country by winning the election,” he said.
The BNP leader said they will create jobs, give the unemployed youths allowances and ensure free education for girls up to the tertiary level, if their party is voted to power.
He also promised that they will create a new ministry for the welfare of Hindu Buddhist and Christian community members if BNP returns to power.
