Staff Reporter :
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said that BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir should quit his post, accepting the responsibility for election debacle and movement failure.
“He (Fakhrul) failed to carry out a movement even for 10 minutes over the last 10 years. His party also failed to get even 10 seats in the 11th Parliamentary polls. He (Fakhrul) should, as such resign taking the responsibility for the both failures, Obaidul Quader said while talking to reporters at Awami League’s central office on the Bangabandhu Avenue after an extended meeting of Dhaka south city unit of Jubo League.
Obaidul Quader passed this remark a day after Mirza Fakhrul asked him to apologise publicly for what he (Mirza Fakhrul) claimed, widespread vote rigging in the 11th parliamentary election.
Quader hit back at his BNP counterpart saying those who turned down people’s outstanding victory should apologise to the nation if he has the minimum sense of shame.
The AL General Secretary said also, “Mirza Fakhrul has become a reckless driver. Everyone should be alert about him to avert loss.”
“The December 30 National Election was transparent and excellent,” he said.
He also rejected the report of Transparency International Bangladesh on various election irregularities.
