Fakhrul in London for talks with Tarique

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has gone to London to discuss about the party’s next strategy after the disgraceful defeat in the 11th national polls.
The BNP leader went to Singapore for his regular treatment on February 4. His wife Rahat Ara Begum was with him.
Sources close to him said that he might go to London at the invitation of the party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman for discussing the country’s latest political situation.
Tarique has also summoned one Standing Committee Member, a Vice-Chairman and one Executive Committee Member close to him.
The purpose of the overseas meeting is to decide the party’s next course of action.
The party sources said, the party is determined to compel the government to hold fresh general election cancelling the December 30’s 11thd Parliamentary polls’ results, to free the party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia from jail and to stop filing ‘of ghostly cases and arrest spree against the party leaders and activists.
Ssources also said that the party may take to streets from March to press home those demands.
