Fakhrul gets bail in bomb explosion case

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Monday granted bail to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a violence case filed with Paltan Police Station for crude bomb explosion in front of BNP’s Naya Paltan Central Office in the capital.
Magistrate Mohammad Nur Nabi of the CMM Court passed the order responding to a bail petition filed by the BNP leader after he surrendered to his court on Monday morning.
On 18 June, last year, the High Court granted him bail until submission of
charge sheet of the case. On May 3, police submitted two charge sheets against BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 42 others in the case.
SI Tobibur Rahman, who is also the Investigation Officer of the case, submitted the charge sheets to the CMM Court under the Explosive Substances Act.
On December 29, 2014, the case was lodged with Paltan Police Station of the city on charges of creating violence in front of BNP Central Office at Naya Paltan, exploding crude bombs.
