Court Correspondent :
Dhaka’s Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court granted bail to BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in one murder case but the court rejected bail in the other murder case on Thursday.
He was granted bail in a murder case filed with
Shahbag Police Station, but rejected in the case filed with Ramna Police Station in the capital.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md. Jahurul Haque passed the orders after the hearing. Fakhrul was sued for the alleged sabotage and murder during the pre-election violence and blockade of BNP last year.
The judge heard the bail petitions in the morning and passed the orders at noon. On March 30, Fakhrul lawyers filed the bail petitions.
On March 16, Mirza Fakhrul surrendered to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka in three separate cases filed with Ramna and Shahbagh Police Stations, when the court sent him to the jail rejecting his bail petitions. He is now in Kashimpur Jail.
