Fakhrul finally made BNP’s Secy Gen

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir finally has been made full-fledged Secretary General of the BNP, five years after performing the duty as the Acting Secretary General of the party.
Besides, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed has been promoted to Senior Joint Secretary General, while Mizanur Rahman Sinha has got the post of party’s Treasurer.
BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia appointed the trio to the party’s three coveted posts. Rizvi Ahmed informed
it at a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in the city on Wednesday morning, 11 days after the party’s sixth national council.
The party’s sixth national council was held on March 19 in the city. At the council, party councilors delegated power to Khaleda Zia to form its national executive and standing committees.
Mirza Fakhrul, a 67-year old politician who was a state minister during BNP-Jamaat government from 2001 to 2006, was posted as the BNP’s acting secretary general since the passing away of Khandaker Delwar Hossain on March 16 in 2011.
After announcement of the three names in the three posts, Khaleda Zia will gradually form the party’s standing committee, the highest policy making body of the party, and the central committee.
