A Court of Dhaka yesterday (Wednesday) discharged BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a defamation case as the complainant of the case failed to appear in the court on five consecutive dates of hearing.
Magistrate Muhammad Anwar Sadat of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order on Wednesday. President of Bangabandhu Foundation and complainant of the case Advocate Moshiur Rahman Malek failed to attend the court for hearing
Mirza Fakhrul was present in the courtroom during the hearing. Earlier on July 14, Fakhul allegedly made “derogatory comments”
about the then State Minister (at present Food Minister) for Law Kamrul Islam at a programme in the National Press Club.
Later on July 18, Moshiur Malek filed the case accusing Mirza Fakhrul.
