Arson case: Fakhrul, 40 others charge-sheeted

Court Correspondent :Detective Branch of Police yesterday (Tuesday) submitted charges against 41 BNP leaders, including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Moudud Ahmed and Mirza Abbas, in a case filed in connection with crude bomb explosion, assaulting police and torching vehicle last year.The incidents took place in front of the Viqarunnissa Noon School and College in the capital on March 2, 2013.Dipak Kumar Das, a Sub-Inspector of Detective Branch of Police and also the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, submitted two separate charge-sheets to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka.Separate charge-sheets were submitted for assaulting police, torching vehicles and preventing law enforcers from discharging their duties and for hurling crude bombs at the members of public, and police during the opposition sponsored agitation programme like road blockades, demonstration and shutdowns (hartal) on March 2 last year.BNP leaders including Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam, Standing Committee members Moudud and Abbas were sent to jail on April 7 last year in connection with the case. Later, they were granted bail in the case including other cases.
