A mobile court accompanied by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institution (BSTI) on Monday conducted a raid and seized fake and unauthorised cosmetics items, including perfumes, from different factories and godowns in Old Dhaka.During the raid, two traders were arrested and the mobile court sentenced to the duo two years imprisonments for each. Led by Magistrate AHM Anwar Pasha, the court also fined Tk 2 lakhs for each. The two convicts are Anwar Hossain, 30, and Sanwar Hossain, 35.The mobile court sealed at least 18 godowns during its drive in different intuitions at No 15 Malitula of Hajibari in the Old Dhaka. It recovered huge fake perfumes of other items of cosmetics from the godowns. Habibur Rahman, director of RAB’s media wing, told media that a team of RAB-3 and the BSTI started the raid in the area at noon and recovered huge fake items of cosmetics. Convict Sanwar Hossain said that they collect bottles of different famous brands of cosmetics, including Fair and Lovely, Vaseline, Zilate, Nevia, Head and Shoulders, Ponds, Sunsilk, Parasoute, Dab and Clearman Shampu, and provide the fake items to the market in the bottles. A number of cosmetics traders collect the fake items in the bottles of famous brands, he also said.
