A mobile court sentenced a fake physician to six months’ imprisonment after members of Rapid Action Battalion-2 (Rab-2) detained him during a drive in the city’s Khilkhet area on Thursday night.
The mobile court of Executive Magistrate Md Anisur Rahman also fined the quack Tk 2 lakh, in default two more months’ imprisonment.
The convict was identified as Mansurul Sakib Amanullah, 28. He introduced himself as a specialist physician to cheat ailing people. Rab-2 officials said a team of the elite force raided Russel
Medicine Corner at Kuratoli Bazar in Khilkhet and detained the imposter.
During interrogation, Amanullah revealed that he has been giving treatment to patients over the last six months in the pharmacy as a specialist physician, posing as Dr Shahadat Hossain Amanullah. Later, the Executive magistrate punished him under section 28(1) of the Medical and Dental Council Act 2010.
