Fake doctor held at DMCH

Staff Reporter :Police detained a fake doctor at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Friday morning.The detainee was identified as Rafiqul Islam, 37.Rafiqul introduced himself as a doctor at DMCH and demanded Tk 3,000 from a patient, Borhan Uddin, said Sentu Chandra Das, Assistant Sub- Inspector at DMCH Police Camp. Suspecting his identity, the patient informed hospital authorities. Later police detained Rafiqul around 7:00am from the Labour Ward, said the police official.He had taken lots of money from many patients at the hospital, added police.The aggrieved people amassed there and clubbed the false physician, a witness said.Shahidul Islam, an attendant of a patient, said that Rafiqul met many attendants of the patients and demanded money for better treatment. “I told the nurses about the matter. They advised me not to give any money to Rafiqul. I followed their advice. But many of the attendants had already given money to Rafiqul,” he said. Rafiqul was handed over to Shahbagh police. He is now in police custody till the report filing.
