A Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) mobile court here on Monday sentenced the owner of a fake cosmetic factory and his manager to different jail terms on charge of producing and marketing spurious cosmetic products.
Acting on a tip-off, a Rab-2 team along with executive magistrate Md Anisur Rahman conducted a raid on 105/1 Baro Hazar Goli of Chawkbazar from 9am to 12:30 pm.
During the drive, the elite force members found that fake cosmetics were being packed inside used empty packets and containers of
famous brands, including Unilever, Head & Shoulder, Himalaya, Adidas and Ego.
The Rab-2 members arrested factory owner Md Yeasin, 23, and his manager Md Shakil, 19, from the spot.
Later, the mobile court sentenced Yeasin to one year’s simple imprisonment and fined him Tk 50,000, in default, to suffer three months more in jail. Shakil was sentenced to six months’ simple jail.
The crime-buster team also seized huge quantities of fake cosmetics from the factory.
