Sylhet Bureau:
A fake assistant superintendent of police (ASP) has been detained from Sylhet city’s Bharthokhola area on Sunday night.
The detainee was identified as Zakaria Ahmed Zakir, 40, hailing from Jakigonj upazila of Sylhet district.
He has been cheating people in many ways impersonating him as an ASP, said sources of RAB-9.
A RAB team conducted raids in a secret information and held him with a visiting card after his name, a seal, a fake national identity card and some fake papers, source said.
Zakir was engaged in collecting money from innocent people giving them hope for government services including police department, he added.
