Barisal Metropolitan Police following harsh criticises and condemnation of their role to control the movement of Health Technology Institute(HTI) students’ agitation programme on Friday formed a 3-member investigation committee about alleged role of law enforcers for using excessive forces.
The formed probe committee is headed by Shoyeb Ahmed, deputy commissioner (headquarter), Abu Raihan Md. Saleh, deputy commissioner (traffic) and Runa Laila, assistant commissioner (city special branch) of BMP.
Shoibal Kanti Chowdhury, BMP Commissioner, acknowledging the facts said that the committee formed December 4 late night and asked to submit their report within three working days.
On other hand a nine-member team including Dilip Kumar Das, vice president , Samir Kumar Bepari, office secretary, Abdul Mannan, treasurer, Shamsuddin Palash, Moniruzzaman, Joint Secretary of Bangladesh Diploma Medical Technology and Pharmacy Students Association visited the injured HTI students at SBMCH on Friday.
They condemning the attack said probe-committee formed by the attackers would be a mockery with the victims and investigation should be done under separate neutral authourity.
The BDMTPSA central leaders suggested that among the injured Suriya, Koli, Akhi and Tuli, should be sent to Dhaka for better treatment immediately.
They exchanging views with the leaders of BDMTPSA Barisal unit expressed their solidarity with the movement for 10-point demands
Kumud Ranjan Bala, principal of Barisal HTI, acknowledging the facts said still injured 14 HTI students under treatment at SBMCH and decision about sending critically injured students to Dhaka would be taken on Saturday.
Mentionable at least 18 students of Barisal Health Technology Institute, mostly females, were injured by baton charges of police and 2 cops were injured by brick bats thrown by the students while the law enforcers went on action to disburse an agitation rally of the students blocking roads in front of Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College campus on Wednesday noon.
The programme was called by Bangladesh Diploma Medical Technology and Pharmacy Students Association to press home their 10-point demands including forming separate education board, licensing authourity, upgrading job status, expanding employment scopes and facilities of HTI.
