Fahmida, Samina in new album

Renowned sisters Fahmida Nabi and Samina Chowdhury will be heard together in the same tune in an upcoming album. The duo sang the song ‘Amar Shokol Shukhe Bubu’ on BTV a long time ago. Now the song will come out in an album which also includes contributions of Shakila Zafar, Kanak Chapa and Nancy. The album will include three solo songs by Fahmida Nabi- ‘Chokh Bujle Tui,’ ‘Shokhi Ki Kore Boli,’ ‘Dekho Alo Kora Jochhona.’ The mostly classical modern songs of the album will be crafted with a modern flare to add to its appeal. Both the sisters became judges of the CloseUp1 singing competition aired on NTV. Samina and Fahmida scalped their national film awards for best playback singing- female in the years 2006 and 2007 respectively. Nancy will be the only one to receive this rare honour of working with these classical modernists in order to represent the contemporaries. This is also a first assignment for Nancy under lyricist Asif Iqbal. Asif Iqbal has written the lyrics of the album whereas Nakib Khan has conducted the composition of music. The two has together compiled seven songs for the album. Lyrics of two bonus songs by Kanak Chapa have been written by Moinul Islam Khan.Organiser of the album Asif Iqbal considers his new project to hold his entire life’s achievements. He had long dreamt of completing an album with Nakib Khan. He feels elated as his dream has finally come true.The elder Fahmida in a career spanning three decades starting from 1979 has collaborated with the likes of Dr Selim Al Deen and Bappa Mazumder. Fahmida has won the Channel I performance award in 2008 and Meril Prothom Alo award in 2009.Samina started her career in 1961with the song Jonmo Theke Jolchhi Mago. Her other famous songs are- Saat Bhai Champa Jagore, Kabita Porar Prohor Esechhe, Ekbar Jodi Keu Bhalobasto, Oi Jhinuk Phota Sagorbelay, Kobita Porar Prohor Esechhe Rater Nirjoney and many more.
