Bangladeshi FM Fahad Rahman, a player of Sheikh Russel Memorial SC, finished runner-up in the IIFL Wealth Mumbai Junior (Under-13) Chess Championship securing 7.5 points after the 9th and final round held in Mumbai on Friday.
After the 9th and last round, three players-Fahad Rahman of Bangladesh and Sadhwani Raunak and Aditya Mittal of India-earned 7.5 points each. But in the tie-breaker, Sadhwani emerged champion, Fahad finished runner-up while Aditya became 3rd.
In the last round, Fahad beat Dhanush Ragav of India. Fahad received near one lac Indian rupees as prizes money.
A total of 171 under-13 chess players from six countries took part in the event.
