National Sub-Junior FM Mohammad Fahad Rahman maintained his solo lead in the points table with maximum 8 points after 8th round games of the Union Insurance 34th National Junior (Under-20 years) Chess Championship held at the hall-room of Bangladesh Chess Federation on Tuesday.
Reigning junior champion Ikramul Haque Siam of Narsingdi was in the 2nd position with 7 points and Avik Sarkar of Mymensingh took the 3rd position with 6½ points.
In the 8th round games, Fahad beat Swarnavo Chowdhury, Siam beat Protiva Talukder of Rajshahi and Avik drew with Akib Jawad of Chittagong.
The 9th or last round games will start today (Wednesday) from 11.00 am at the same venue. The prize distribution ceremony will be held today from 4.00 pm.
Renowned sports organiser and Chairman of Union Insurance Company Limited Muzaffar Hossain Paltu will distribute the prizes among the winners as the chief guest.
