Fahad lifts National Sub-Junior Chess title

FM Mohammad Fahad Rahman of Pirajpur became unbeaten champion in the SGS 36th National Sub-Junior (Under-16) Chess Championships-2017 Open and Girls was held on Tuesday at Chess Federation hall-room here.
This meet was sponsored by Saif Global Sports Ltd. and organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation.
Student of Little Jewel International School Fahad earned maximum 7 points to clinch the sub-junior title. This was Fahad’s fifth sub-junior title and to add an icing to his feat this was fourth title sub junior title in a row.
Subrato Biswas of Mymensingh had to remain satisfied with the runner-up with 6 points and M. Nayem Haque of Sirajganj was placed at the third position with 5.5 points.
In Girls section Noshin Anjum of Narsingdi became unbeaten champion. Noshin collected 6.5 points to clinch the title. Jannatul Ferdous of Dhaka became runner-up with 6 points.
In open section 7 players earned 5 points each. Their positions are Akib Jawad of Chittagong at 4th, Tahsin Tajwar Zia at 5th, Swarnavo Choudhury at 6th, Amit Bikram Roy at 7th, Nafim Al Karim at 8th, Md. Sajedul Haque at 9th and Sadnan Hasan Dihan of Narayanganj at 10th.
In girls section 4 players earned 5 points each. Their positions are: Walijah Ahmed at 3rd, Nusrat Jahan Alo of Borguna at 4th, Nusrat Jahan Moni of Brammanbaria at 5th and Khushi Akter of Narayanganj at 6th.
Fahad after becoming champion has increased his rating by 47 points.
Both events were held in 7 round Swiss-League system, 52 players participated in open section and 31 girls participated in girls section.
