A Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) mobile court on Sunday sealed off a factory producing adulterated powdered soft drink in the city’s Uttarkhan area and fined three people.
Sources at the Rab Headquarters said the mobile court of Rab-1, led by its headquarters’ executive magistrate AHM Anwar Pasha, conducted a drive at ‘Khan Food and Chemical Company’ at Atipara around 12:30 pm.
During the drive, it was found that the factory was producing substandard drink powder under the brand name ‘Twang’ using expired and industrial grade ingredients that are harmful to public health.
Later, the court sealed off the factory, said Rab magistrate Anwar Pasha, adding that they also fined three people-factory owner M Rajib Khan, 31, its manager Md Touhid Hossain Khan, 40, and employee Mohidul, 20 — Tk 1 lakh each.
Major Md Riyadul Islam of Rab-1 and BSTI representative Abdul Matin were present during the drive.
