Mills and factories will run on power rationing as per the government order from Friday, business leaders said.
“Factories will now run on power rationing as per the government decision for curbing energy crisis, to be started from Friday,” BKMEA Executive President Mohammad Hatem said on Friday.
“As per the government decision, the power rationing in mills and factories would be area wise, rather than feeder-wise,” the BKMEA Executive President said.
The business leader said, “We might face problems with the supply chain if a part of the factory stops working for power rationing in a particular feeder. We will discuss the matter with the government.”
He also said that power rationing will not effective for industries that run on captive power.
“Besides the power rationing, disruption in gas supply is hitting hard to the industrial production,” the BKMEA leader said.
He said that gas supply was down in Narayanganj industrial area from Wednesday morning to Thursday afternoon.
“We talked the matter to the Managing Director of Titas and chairman of Petrobangla about the problem. We did not get any proper reply yet which is an undesired matter,” Hatem said.
The government started enforcement of daily one-hour area-based load-shedding nationwide, on July 19 to tackle the ongoing energy crisis.
But people in most of the areas in every district across the country alleged that load-shedding is taking place not only for one hour in a day, but it takes several more times for couple of hours every day.
However, it has been alleged that there is discriminatory enforcement of power rationing between the capital and other parts of the country.
