Popular social networking site Facebook would verify the accounts of all the Members of Parliament (MPs) to avoid any unwanted situation, State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim said on Monday.
“I am writing letter to the Speaker seeking the URL of MPs’ Facebook page would be verified,” she told media at her secretariat office after getting assurance from the authority during the visit of Facebook office in Singapore.
After the verification, Tarana said, all the fake accounts or pages of MPs or VIP people would be deactivated by the Facebook.
The State Minister on March 30 had a meeting with the high-ups of Facebook – Manager of Trust and Safety Vikram Langeh and Ankhil Das, Public Policy Director of India, South and Central Asia – in Singapore.
The social networking giant has appointed many Asian people who can understand the contents and take appropriate measures, she added.
Tarana said Facebook has assured them to take visible steps in accordance with telecommunication division and women organizations against the violence that spread through video or different posts to women.
Referring to a proposal of incorporating a table at the complain box to know victim’s mental state, the state minister said: “We’ve given this proposal to thwart the suicidal move of women that was instigated different Facebook posts.”
The facebook officials have replied to consider it positively, revealed Tarana.
She also said Facebook responded to about 63 to 65 percent of the complaints submitted by Bangladesh government in 2017.
Mentioning that police headquarters, RAB, DMP and special branch through the home ministry have already forwarded the names of focal points, Tarana Halim said:
