Govt has taken initiatives to specify economic zone for Indian investors within the Mirsarai Economic zone of Chattogram. In the meantime, Prime Minister’s office has taken a project to acquision the lands for this zone in the meantime.
If the project of MEZ is implemented , the Indian investors with get advantage for establishing industrial zone within the MEZ , a portal news sources said.
Concerned sources said following the establishment of Indian zone in the MEZ, industries of backward and forward linkage will be development side by side of inflow of foreign currency.
Bangladesh Economic zone authority sources said the MEZ will be implemented by 2030 which is supposed to be approved inthe next ECNEC meeting. Sources further said govt has undertaken to establish 100 ecnomic zones inthe country within next 15 years through BEZA for parallel development of all parts of the cuntry. Earlier in the meeting of ECNEC in 2018 , 79 BEZ was approved including 56 in public sector.
