Extra-curricular activities in educational bodies stressed

State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain on Friday laid emphasis on extra-curricular activities besides regular textbooks.
“Extra-curricular activities play an important role to develop student’s mind as well as improve academic performance, foster interpersonal relationship, increase motivation and self-esteem,” he said.
The state minister said these while speaking as the chief guest at the annual sports competition of Ideal School and College in city’s Motijheel area, said a press release.
Governing Body President of the college Abu Hena Morshed Zaman presidedover the programme while Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Stamford University Professor Muhammad Ali Naqi and Principal of Ideal School and College Dr Shahan Ara Begum also spoke.
“Excellent academic results should not the only goal rather it is important to build a student as a quality human being… That’s why, there is no option to practice sufficient extra-curricular activities,” Farhad said.
He also emphasized to make the habits of reading books for improving general and global knowledge of the students.
