Extortionists have threatened a trader demanding Taka one lakh. The demand was made to trader Sheikh Altaf Hossain at Nawapara industrial town in Jessore early on Friday and Thursday night.
Confirming the information, Sheikh Nasir Uddin, officer in-charge, Abhaynagar police station told newsmen that the police were investigating into the matter.
The trader told newsmen that a caller introducing him as Shimul Bhuiyan demanded Taka one lakh to him over the cell phone bearing number 01716013228 early on Friday. Earlier, armed miscreants numbering about 8 demanded the same amount of money to the businessman storming into his residence on Thursday night. The left the residence as neighbours rushed there sensing the matter.
A general diary was lodged with Abhaynagar police station in this connection.
