The vegetables include brinjal, radish, tomato, cauliflower, cabbage, bean, carrot, balsam apple, cucumber, ladies finger, turnip, parble, lal shak, sabuj shak and palang shak.
The farmers are showing interests in cultivating vegetables this year as they were economically benefited in the previous years.
In some places, the farmers have already started to cultivate vegetables on their land with the hope of getting more profit from the farming.
M. Amir Ali, an ideal farmer of Putimari village under Muktinagar union of Saghata upazila, said he has started vegetables farming on his land during the current season and is putting his best efforts to gain profits side by side meeting his family demands.
To raise the overall vegetables production and to make the cultivation programme a grand success, the DAE officials are also conducting training for the farmers at field level and providing them with latest agro technologies.
Meanwhile, early varieties of vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower, bean, radish and brinjal have started to arrive in the market. Customers are buying those with much enthusiasm despite higher prices.
Deputy Director of DAE Mir Abdur Razzak said farmers are being given instructions by field level agriculture officers on farming winter vegetables in their field to improve their socio-economic condition.
