Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, Senior Secretary Department of Internal Resources and Chairman of the National Board of Revenue said that as the past, if the advantage of the local industry is extended, the investment will increase .
 He made the remark while addressing the pre-budget views-exchange meeting of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industries Conference room as Chief Guest on Thursday.
NBR Chairman said, the need to give the benefit to the local industry. What I’ve been doing for a few years. If it continues, people will be interested in industrialization. Investments will increase. The current budget of 4 lakh 64 thousand crore. The next budget is about 5 lakh crore taka. Industrialization has started with small and medium industries in the country. As well as large industries too. Population has been our resources. Relatively cheap labor in this country. The purchasing power of the essential consumer goods is increasing.
‘Ready made garments industry has been moving well since the 1980s. We want to raise income tax. I give less importance to customs duty. The government is taking less than the loan from the Bank. Taxes and VAT charges should be increased. Many businessmen in the village are out of taxes. The traders will be brought under the automation. The government is also focusing on the scanning machine at the seaport and airport. ‘
‘The contribution of the government to the national income has increased by 33 percent to the government’s support. There are still many possibilities. So the government is building a special economic zone. For 8-10 years, pouring money on the capital machinery has been giving a lot of benefits. We do not want to add cars in the country. We want production Like employment.’
He said, before making the budget, the views of the businessmen were exchanged. We can not implement all the proposals. Some are implemented. We will not do anything that affects industrial owners, businessmen, consumers and the country.
NBR members Firoz Shah Alam, Kanan Kumar Roy, Syed Golam Kibria and others were present in the meeting.
Chamber president Mahbubul Alam said in the welcome speech, “Now, we have examined 148 related taxes, 44 proposals related to income tax and new VAT law.” In order to increase the income limit of 3,500,000 people, women and 65 years of income tax exemption limit up to 4 lakh, five lakh for the disabled and 5 lakhs of war injured freedom fighters.
Highlighting the mega projects of greater Chittagong, Mahbubul Alam said proper implementation of these projects will be given in the next budget. Bank loan interest rate should be reduced to one number.
