UNB, Dhaka :
Exporters, as part of its ongoing programme protesting hartal and blockade, will observe a token hunger strike on Saturday seeking an end to violence and thus restoring a peaceful business environment in the country.
They will observe the token hunger strike from 11am in front of BGMEA Bhaban
protesting the violence and attacks on innocent people, which is destroying the economy. President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturer and Exporters Association (BGMEA) M Atiqul Islam requested all stakeholders to join the programme and raise their voice.
Earlier, they made the announcement of the hunger strike after a marathon emergency meeting with all the stakeholders involved in the export sector held at BGMEA’s Nurul Kader Auditorium in the city on Wednesday. The BGMEA would inform all when they would go for legal remedy – filing a writ petition seeking a High Court ruling against violence and blockade and hartal – within the next couple of days.
They are already in consultation with legal experts to that end so that they can go as per law.
