Business leaders and exporters will join their hands to protest the countrywide blockade urging all to help keep the wheel of the economy moving.
Bangladesh Garment Manufactures and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) and other trade bodies related to the export industry will form the human chain on Wednesday.
President of the Exporters Association of Bangladesh (EAB) and former BGMEA President Abdus Salam Murshedy said they will form the
human chain in front of BGMEA Complex in the city from 10:30am.
The exporters will call upon the political parties to resolve the ongoing political stalemate through discussions as the political instability is taking its heavy toll on the export sector and the overall economy.
The country suffered a colossal economic loss of Tk 36445.76 crore in the first 16 days’ countrywide hartal and blockade programmes this month, according to Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI).
