Experts stress on reducing 10% post harvest loss and GAP practice

Speaker at the inaugural session of a five-day workshop on horticulture here yesterday stressed on reducing post harvest loss of the agricultural crops and good agricultural practice (GAP) through developing technology in the Asian countries. As postharvest crop losses of cereal crop mainly rice in Bangladesh are higher than the global average and it has been estimated that at least 10% of the crop productivity is lost during postharvest operations, they said at the workshop. The workshop is being jointly organized by Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) and Asian Food and Agriculture Cooperation Initiative (AFACI), South Korea, held at a city hotel here.
