Experts for expanded cultivation of HYV mustard seed

Agriculture Experts at a farmers’ filed day have stressed on expanded cultivation of high yielding variety (HYV) of mustard seed using the latest agro-technologies to achieve self-reliance on production of oil seed.
They also mentioned that there was a tremendous prospect of meeting edible oil demand of the country through increased production of the HYV oil seed saving over Taka 6,000 crores annually by bringing edible oil import to the zero level.
The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) organised the event in village Kharija Golna under Golna union of Jaldhaka upazila in Nilphamari district on Monday afternoon for harvesting high yielding varieties mustard BARI-14 and BARI-15.
Around 200 male and female framers, including members of Kharija Golna Livelihoods Field School (LFS), sub-assistant agriculture officers and local elite were present.
