The country needs to train more skilled manpower in order to develop local airlines and capture the global aviation market, experts said at a seminar.
Bangladesh’s progress in aviation science and technology hinges on creating the next generation of scientists, innovators, professionals, and enthusiasts through pragmatic university- industry collaboration, they added.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University (BSMRAAU) organized the seminar on industry-university collaboration at Shaheen Hall in Tejgaon, Dhaka on Monday. Aviation professionals, academics, and aviation enthusiasts were among those in attendance.
Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury at the seminar said the university had made tremendous strides in disseminating knowledge on aviation and aerospace related subjects within a short span of time.
He stressed the need for producing skilled graduates in various fields related to aviation, as the aviation industry encompasses services, manufacturing, as well as research and innovation.
BSMRAAU Vice-Chancellor AVM Muhammad Nazrul Islam said a part of the vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was to turn Bangladesh into an aviation and research hub by 2041.
Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice-Marshal M Mafidur Rahman emphasized collaboration for the development of the aviation sector as well as the need for producing skilled manpower. The CAAB chairman hoped that the university would continue its good work by braving all challenges to turn Bangladesh into an aviation hub and materialize the prime minister’s vision.
